ye a bug is 900kg's, chevy around 2000kg's, my point is, air cooled engine, 4 cylinders, if your are smart enough you can make those bugs fast as hell.

the win only makes since the bug and the nova probably have a SBC but the bug is half the weight

Not hard to believe at all. The bug is MUCH lighter and even though it has a 4 cylinder engine, it has a better power/weight ratio than the nova. Not to mention this particular bug has a fiberglass body making it even lighter and reducing drag. (though the bug would probably still beat the nova with a stock metal body, because it would still be lighter).

very well filmed and loved the sound of the engines. its pritty hard to think a bug could beat a chevy nova dragster but its probley because the bug was tunned loved the video please like that.

Brings back memories of the 70's when I was drag racing my 71 Nova at the 8th mile in Manassas. There was a bug that regularly blew my doors off. It wouldn't spin it's tires, it would hop once and be gone, with it's single rear exhaust pointing up in the air like a freakin middle finger. Hated that bastid!

I can't believe how many idiots there are here.. well, yes I can, but the fact of the matter is VW bugs kick ass. The main reason behind this is their utter simplicity: you can do so bloody much with a bug. Keep it stock and you have a fine, economical, reliable car. Go crazy and turn it into a hot rod and you've got a sexy street machine (don't laugh, its true). Or go berzerk like this and turn the lightweight bug into a V8 eater. Anybody who calls VW's 'lame' have seriously poor taste in cars.

you are saying none of us know our vw history? you have no clue do you. just for your information, i have been facsinated with vw's all my life, i own a 72 bug, and i have done the said reading. i have even done a speech for my public speaking class on the history of the beetle, which i can brag about seeing how it earned an "a". kinda makes me wonder how much research YOU have done...
