Turbine powered golf cart

Author:vernonbarry
Description:APU (Auxilary Power Unit) turboshaft engine powering a highly modified golf cart through a hydrostatic transmission. Aprox 50 hp through the trans to the wheels. 5 hp engine is used for starting rather than 2 large truck batteries. The hydrostatic transmission allows for instant forward and reverse changes, without any shifting, and nearly unlimited torque. Top speed was gearing limited to about 35 MPH at the golf course because the ground is so rough. This was a test run and will be followed soon by some high speed runs on flat pavement. Turbine engine was bought off of Ebay for $500 and used cart chassis was $100.

yes. you loose a lot of power seeing as that your turbine engine is not set in a position where air flows into it naturally (rather than it being sucked in like it is) you have a LOT to learn about jet propulsion. and yes it would require a drivetrain. The engine is not actually pushing that car, it is just generating energy, like any regular engine would. (which really defeats the whole concept seeing as that a turbine is a propulsion system.)

you need a drive train for a jet engine? since when the force pushes you.

Which part of test drive is unclear? We didn't try for top speed. It was to see how the drivetrain held up to torque and acceleration. The next question is how do those carts doing 50 plus stop? Most golf carts only have brakes on the back wheels, so they will not stop quickly at all. My latest video does show top speed after we put front disk brakes so that we might be able to stop. There is no restricted airflow, the engine runs wide open!

kinda gay

dude I hope you know that they make golf carts (gas and electric) that go faster than that goes. You should go get one of those and put your turbine system on it. make it so that it has better air suction too. I think your system looses power due to restricted air flow.

insane!

that was a stupid demonstration.

did you know that old people cant hear such high pitched noises

He used the Annoying Ringtone to make that sound..you suck dude.. I have that high pitched noise on my phone!!!!!!!

dont roll it u fuck wit

Well, that indeed makes a lot more sense. Sorry, didn't read the video description.

You missed the detail, turboshaft engines drive a transmission which does allow reverse. Go back to school before you hurt yourself.

HAHAHA turbine powered XD 1 small detail: turbines dont have a reverse =D. it is called a "turbo", numbnuts =D

oh fur real

I want one! Have you taken it golfing? Can you do 18 on one tank? I think a pair of knobs in the rear and front ribs would do wonders for traction... Mascobe

Yes, im sure youll get FAA approval :]

Why are people so damn stupid? Seriously, do some damn homework, and know what you're talking about before you open your mouth. By the way, for those of you calling it slow, WHO THE FUCK CARES! It's jet powered, how cool is that?

so do you.

ummm seriouslly man build a small jet.Don waste it on lawnmowers and shit!

dude safty firt you should where a helmet lol

drive a line buddy not on dirt i bet u cant or can u?

Sweet! A annoying thing that gose in circles. yay!

cool im tryin to build my first jet turbine only im havin trouble finding metal tubing for the compustion chamber

suck my nob u dirty shit cunt, i was asking a simple question sorry im not a fucking scientist. suck your mothers cunt.

hehe!
