Description:Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots. Optimus Prime is one of the most famous fictional robot characters in the world. Optimus Prime's voice acting of the 80's cartoon series was done by Peter Cullen. Optimus Prime is known for his wisdom, bravery, justice and his incredible voice. I chose the song "Real American" for this video because it really suits the Optimus Prime character. Optimus Prime was introduced in the late 70's as "Battle Convoy" from the Diaclone toy series. Hasbro licensed the Battle Convoy toy figure and made him Autobot commander. In Europe, Optimus Prime was released when the TV-show already aired. They needed a replacement leader until the Optimus Prime figure became available in stores. Jetfire was named Autobot leader in the toy series to fill the gap. Jetfire never made it to the series as Autobot leader. The story of Optimus Prime vanishing from the series so that Hasbro can sell newer figures is well known. Optimus Prime is regarded as the only true leader of the Autobots. This is my vintage Optimus Prime. I got it in 1986. At the time, new Transformers figures were much more expensive than Encore figures of today. Optimus Prime's trailer is made from the same type of grey plastic that's used for many season & 2 figures, such as the Dinobots. The typical nerves can be seen in the grey plastic of the trailer. Optimus Prime's wheels are made of high quality non-drying rubber and have chrome rims. The trailer is all plastic. The cockpit inside has become loose because of aging. It is spring-loaded and able to fire the included missiles. Roller, the 6-wheeled reconnaissance car in the trailer, is a Transformer, according to the TV-show. It can't Transform, but it it is a living robot in the cartoon series. My Roller is blue, but the cartoon series had a silver one. The Takara Encore series respects the original cartoon color schemes and made Roller silver for that edition. Optimus Prime's cab is the actual robot. His chest is made of thick die cast metal. The feet are metal as well. Optimus Prime is a very detailed figure and looks great in both robot and alternate mode. The fists go into his headlights but that will create wear on the long term and force the figure to have his elbows bent 90 degrees to hold the fists. Newer G1 Optimus Prime reissues can hold the fists while his arms are lowered but old vintage figures can't, unless they're never used. The good thing about the G1 Optimus Prime figure is that he comes in multiple reissues, so that everyone can still own the figure for an affordable price. The reissue Optimus Prime is based on the G2 Optimus Prime mold. I'm not sure if there is any difference between the G1 and G2 molds because I haven't spotted any. The vintage Optimus Prime figure has Autobot signs on both of his shoulders whereas the TV-show Optimus only had a sign on his left shoulder. As you can see in this video, the shoulders have bumps on them which avoid the Autobot stickers to be fully applied to the shoulders. The Encore Optimus Prime fixed that by scanning the sign directly on the plastic instead of using stickers. A vintage Optimus Prime in his original box costs a ton on conventions or online auctions. The box and styrofoam of my Optimus are heavily worn and old, but they are still held together by sheer will. Optimus Prime is the most iconic Transformer character out there and I granted him an extra long video because this Optimus Prime character truly deserves it.

WHOA, WHERE DID REAL AMERICAN COME FROM? LOL! 80s POWER!

hey When I was 7 I had g1 Prime and within days he was broke. I just picked up 25th anniversary and sure its not like a mint g1 prime with original box but any Fan should go with the 25th if they don't wanna pay high prices for something that is most likely in c5 condition. Encore is better i will admit but im gonna defend the 25th. Its just not my fav. That goes to my MP-05

Thank you for telling me this!

You're welcome. The new reissue has great extra's, but I heard the figure itself is very fragile. The Encore reissue is better quality and still fully available on eBay for a reasonable price. The Encore reissue also has long smoke stacks.

I just watched this, again, all the way through with my 3yo son. We're both psyched about getting the latest reissue, and it was really fun to share. We both air drummed to the music. My son told me that it was the one I had when I was a boy. He disagreed with me when I said "Does Optimus Prime look old?" but nodded definitely when I asked "Does he look cool?" At the end "and that was so awesome music." Thank you.

Thanks. The irony of making these videos is that shooting the footage and removing bad bloopers/scenes isn't very time-consuming, but finding suitable music and editing everything together takes a lot of time.

great figure i like how u have song on reviews

you are welcome

the classics/universe 2.0 reissue. i hope the make a megatron reissue

Thanks. He's a great figure. Did you get the Encore, another reissue or the vintage?

nice review i just got him today

Thanks bro.

Prime is awesome and the toy your ideal for the first song is awesome.

Thanks man.

Great write up in your description, and a loving video - I really think that's the right word. Good work.

you got the tuch and fuld

It was Optimus Prime's song when he did his final battle in Transformers: The Movie. Later on in the movie, the song was used as background music.

this was optimus primes theme song on the old cartoon transformers movie! it got me hyped up when i heard it lol

Optimus Prime was my 2nd Transformer ever. My 1st was Runamuck. My 1st transformable robot figure was Pathfinder from Go-Bots. After Pathfinder, I got Runamuck and I was very happy to have a "real Transformer" at the time.

"One shall stand, one shall fall." With that line we all remember Prime. That was my third autobot in my collection.

"The Touch".

Song?

Somewere in november this toy will come out as a reissue same thing ecept the shortened stacks.

I'd do anything to get that TOY! ^_^

That's very affordable. Over here in Europe it was $77 in the 80's. TF's were very expensive here at the time. Megatron was $200 when it came out here.
