I agree, but its a huge pain in the ass to get to a 1/4 mile track and sit around all day for possibly 3 runs in Socal. (unless you know a place where you can run all day... Carlsbad shut down and sold out to developers a couple years ago.. effectively eliminating the last place we could do that here.) I much prefer 1/4 mile, trust me. My car is a lot more effective after hitting third with these gears in it. (ask that NSX, 911 4S, etc...)
1/8th mile drag's suk ass they go by too quick i wouldnt support it. 1/4 mile is the best or even better 1 mile races... (sigh) if only.
Currently 245 45/15 Dunlop SP-8000 Sport - I didn't have them in this video, though. (still had shitty old tires that were shredding)
what tire are you running?
Yeah, my brother had a solid axle years ago on a Cutlass with a 455. It hopped like mad when you turned it tight... of course having ~500ft/lbs of torque might have caused part of the problem.
Yeah, this is stock turbo, stock boost.
parking lots it draggs the tire, and is hard to steer, but on the open road it is hard to beat, I thought it would be worse but it is not bad.
How does it feel in a parking lot, or in a high speed bank like a freeway on ramp?
just a question, is this the stock t25 turbo??
Yeah, I've thought about that... but I much prefer a real LSD or at least a viscous for street/freeway driving (which is what this car sees most)
I took a R200 diff and welded the spider gears I went from running a 8.32 to a 7.48 It works perfectly.
9.17 best - It's all listed at 2:30 into the video. I had my boost controller hooked up backwards like a dumbass and couldn't figure out why my boost was running stock. I flipped it around and its a lot faster now... but I haven't been back to the track. This open diff = no traction. It sucks.
what was your times?
oo ok thanks man
Google? There's a ton of local shops selling them across the USA now.
where i can get a sr20det bro??
I was shifting around 7000rpm because it quit making power there.
what is the redline on your sr20? lol sounds niiice!
Yeah, he wanted to keep racing me over and over... it was his first trip to the track with that setup as well. I think his expectations were a bit high and in his mind he could take an SR20DET powered 240z... as stock as I was running.
did that civic hatch actually think he had a chance?
I also said I wouldn't go back to the strip until I put a limited slip differential in the car. That open diff sucks.
Well, I live up in Orange County... so making the drive down is rough. You have to get there early to get in, and that means I have to get out of work early, probably.
Nice runs, you ever plan on going back out to racelegal? I'm planning to go some time in June since I got my 280zx running. I also saw you were in Oki for a while. Pretty cool, I was there from 89-99.
Good stuff. You'll have fun with it.
I am about to put a RB20 in my 72, 240z should run just as hard as this 4 cyl u have. |
