You can do whatever you want with them - it's just if you only look at them and collect them, it's probably a better investment to keep them in the box. You're not going to be losing hundreds of dollars if they're not in the box, it's just that in one hundred years someone might prefer to buy them in boxes (for your kids / grandkids).
