chevy's rule

hi, thanks for your comment. many people think that putting a chev in it ruins the weight distribution. done well it actually improves the weight distribution. the engine sits low and behind the crossmember. original engine sits over it and high. in my case it was an improvement. as for your bad ass 6 cylinder that gets as much hp as a chevy... not so sure you would get many people to agree with you there. sure there are some amazing straight sixes but the chev is the chev.

what a great designed car....and to go muck up the weight by dropping a heavy chevy in there when you could have kept it all nissan with a bad ass 6 cylinder....and they can get just as much hp as a chevy......its nice , dont get me wrong.

the turbo six would be much safer too because its lighter? either way the car is like a toy, 500whp 600whp its gonna kill anything out on the street thats for sure lol

That is a nice car but I have to agree that a decent jap turbo 6 in there it'd be a much better/quicker car. I have a 240z that had a real nice 650hp small block in it, we took it out and installed a Nissan RB30, 1st pass ever 146.5mph on the 1/4 in full street trim ,with the chev it never got anywhere near that mph and I havn't seen any big block street trim 240's run that sort of mph either. Each to their own, its a nice car and I'm sure he's happy with the V8.

Per displacement/hp(ie 396CI/400hp) My datsun l28et !stock! is better than the 396 or 351 or 383 etc. The "jap" cars you see in the US are NOT by any means a "decent" representation of theyre prestiege. I live in St. Louis, Mo, 63125 with a very fast Nissan powered 72 240Z. I have people backing down from quite often in theyre brand new and high performance "muscle" cars. My car weighs just over 2100 lbs with me and my fuel cell full of fuel.

wow, double-pumper holley/barry grant on a chevy small block and in a datsun z car! personally, i'd never put a v8 in a 240z, but i understand why people do it. i've got a low serial number 240z (1970 #797) and wouldn't dream of replacing the engine, but would love to molest a '74+ with an american small block.

I don't know why you guys think a small jap engine can make as much power as a small block, ad still be affordable. The reason they put a chevy in this 240z is because they are a good solid motor. And just to clarify, no small jap engine is going to stand up to a v8. The right small block can put out power of up to and around 1200hp, where as ive seen big blocks putting out 7000-8000hp; hence nitro dragsters, and funny cars.

uhhh no im american as hell an i love the big v8s but dude trust me the japs build a better engine hands down no question and they build a much better car to go with it. they last long they are economical and somehow many times more powerful than massive v8s.

keep it all japanese??? hello thats what was wrong with it in the first place. you cant tell me that the straight 6 in that car (turbo or no turbo) is better then the checy small block. That motor there probally puts 400+ HP. you should be thanking these guys for making a shitty jap car cool. And about the chevy comment... if you put togther the best car japan has to offer, well the amercians can do 5 times better hense the new LSX block.

Why put an American Heart in a Japanese Body, don't understand , defeats the purpose. Keep it all Japanese, and really see she can do.......I don't doubt that it makes more HP but a Chevy engine?

240z with a v8 dont sound right to me.

Sounds like you cant take care of you're cars. The Datsun L series are very strong running engines regardless of the bad spark plug placement

Yes, do doubt if you keep any kind of engine standard and dont give it a hard time it will last for half a million kms. When you spend 1000s on a dinosaur, with 1960s technology (correct me if I am wrong but I believe the L series to date to that era) you have to expect problems. They are complete rubbish when you professionally rebuild a performance engine as new and it lasts 2000kms.

Thats why you pout a v8 or 25 in it. i dont see anyone posting video's of240z's with stock motors. oh an you blow 4 motors man you must have no idea how to service an engine i mean you blow 4 who the fuck would get another one even after the 2nd lol dick head...

my mum had a datsun ? 20 years ago. all i know is it was red and carried 5 of us + 2 neighbours to school every day. she pulled up at a junction one day, the exhaust fell off and she drove away sounding like that tuned car you got there. it sure didn't look or sound pretty but it was a workhorse. datsuns rock
