Rats, your right. Speed of light 186000miles per second, or 6.71x10 to the 8th power mph.
It was 6453mph. It was a four mile track, with the sled running through a helium filled tunnel. Yup, it really went that fast.
you get more thrust "per pound of fuel" with solid rocket motors.
your so full of shit lol
i think you got your speed of light wrong
thanks man
that makes lots of since (no sarcasim)
It could be they were waiting on certain conditions of the track to stabilize. Just a guess, my Dad worked on the old Hurricane Utah test track in the 50's. Even back then track tolerances were set very closely.
The earth circles the sun at 67000mph. The earth and our galaxy, relative to the background radiation is traveling roughly 800,000mph. The speed of light is 670,616,629mph, way faster than we are traveling, relatively speaking. It's actually physically impossible for us to travel even close to 90% the speed of light. Also, we are able to measure quite acuratly our relative speed, so, yes, we would actually be able to know if we were travelling at the speed of light if it were possible.
Why at night?
if they want to do the land speed record
how does it help to do it @ night
well if your being that tachnical, earth is spinning roun the sun at 1000mph, our solar system is orbiting the centre of the galaxy vey fst and god knows what the galaxy is orbitting, anyway, we could be going the speed of light, constantly, and still not know about it
Yeah, this is all fine and great, but is it stock? Stock for stock, I think my 03 Cobra could take it. Anything can be fast with enough cash thrown at it.
...chuckle
Blowme1000 that is the funniest youtube comment ever :D
hes probably 10 miles away
@wolfwing747 What's so fantastic about that? That's out of the Earth's atmosphere and nobody personally got to witness it!
This too is not that impressive as say Thrust SSC doing 763.035mph avg on land man operated. Because there you're dealing with life and death of a driver!!! :D
Where and how exacally did you get get this information ? I would like to know your source ???
wow thats fast haha
is there a video for that?
He thought he had better things to do. Like look at the beautifull beautifull sun. And eat chimp treats through the tube in his stomach. While listening to Dio playing holy diver. The video is cool I saw it here on you tube...
Actually, the fastest man-made object, a satellite that came extremely close to the sun, reached a top speed of around 153,000 mph which is around 42 miles/second.
its called ZOOM. lol. i dont think they'd waste the chance to film it correctly.
Tragically, the chimpanzee that was piloting did not survive.
lmao mate, we wouldnt have even seen ~1Kms of track there. You can hear it break mach 2 or so then another barrier.
How does the camera man see the entire 16km track to film it?
I smell bullshit
Wow it seems funny how time flies. I worked with the people that do this. I worked for this unit. I can say it is not fake. I was there. I can say that the speed is correct. There are ways to measure it. It is a very interesting job working there. This was my second land speed record working out there and I will say that since I am not working there anymore.. I will miss the track... The speed limit in the great state of New Mexico is MACH 10..
I've witnessed this in person. The track is the same as a railroad but its 10 miles long and perfectly straight. The sleds have teflon slippers on them that let it slide on the rails. When they launch the sled, they hold it for a few seconds for the rockets to get up to power and then let it go. It's an awesome spectacle to view. |
