I love both cars equally and I'd take both in a heartbeat. My preference is for the M5 though because I suspect it may be more reliable in the long run. I've got an E36 M3 with almost 160k miles and it runs great ... except for going through rear tires every three months :D I thought it was funny how the M5 with the stock intake faired better than with the aftermarket intake. Das Germans know how to engineer.

Actually right now its running 4.26 0-60 for its best. Only mod is a Predator and 180-t-stat. No magic there. When it was bone stock it ran 4.5's all day.

you must have a magical charger to run under 4.3 to 60. all the rest are mid to high 4secs.

I have an E39 2001 M5 and my cousin has an 06 300SRT8 both cars TODAY ARE SAME PRICE I bought mine with 45k for 28.000$ while my cousin got used 06 SRT8 with 18.000 Miles. chrysler is more of a cruiser but anytime you want to step on it That 6.1 HEMI wouldn't dissapoint you. M5 is more of performance car has 6spd manual low end toque sits on 18's and has way better handling and overall is better build car ( its GERMAN).

The whole car is Chrysler, except for the transmission, the front suspension, and the steering column, which was from the W210 E-class. Chrysler did a hell of a lot more than just the emblems and interior--they made it what it is today. You don't think Chrysler *could* have made their own suspension, awd system, transmission, and steering column? It's a parts bin car, and it proved very successful.

They aren't the best for German cars since they aren't made for them. Common sense right. Agreed, yes, the problem is the person putting them on the wrong car!!! The AEM intake they used is straight up garbage. I've seen some decent Japanese aftermarket parts but that wasn't one of them!

Man.. this is surprizing to me. 104 comments, and most of them are an endless pissing contest between BMW and Chrysler haters. These are both great cars. The BMW is twice the price, but is justified with higher-quality interior and better handling. The Chrysler is the better value. I would guess that of the 104 comments here, not one came from anyone who actually owns a new-gen M5.

VERY VERY true. its sad that they compare 2007's to the old m5. i mean if chrysler can only match the old m5 then who the hell cares. the NEW m5 smokes every car on the road unless its exotic. even then it keeps right next to them or ahead.

OK. the chrysler engine and transmission was built and assembled by Mercedes. All chrysler did was put the emblems on and do the interior. thats all. Secondly. The new m5 would of course smoke it but it has 2 extra cylinders giving it 80 more horse. Trust me the 300 can keep up. Father has the M6 and my friends dad bought the 300. It didnt stay next to it but if you mod it a little then its right next to the m6. Its not a bad car just a bad company name and chrysler made up by joining MB
