01Z06Guy QUOTE "Yeah, that's the longest version of Main course (speaking about Firebird Raceway). I have 1:12 laps recorded for that track as well." STREET STI: A Stock 2008 STI (with a Crawford Stage 2 Package) recorded a 1:08 on the same configuration. Check it out in Modified Mag, Sept 2008 That is a 4 second difference, STI FTW...

yeah that sti is putting out 650hp at the flywheel and 550 at the wheels. but suprisingly its still got a pretty much stock interior, stock transmission. The brakes are the new carbon brakes, havent done a hell of alot with the suspension. but just stuffed a heap of stuff under the hood. i always like watching the subarus hunt down their prey on the track

STI owner here. That's a fast STI. It looked like that Vette let the STI pass, though. Both bad ass machines.

If that's what you find fun and that's your opinion, fine. Nothing wrong with that. Others think differently, like your buddy, for instance. He obviously dropped the big cash for a reason. Enjoy your STI bro, it's a nice car.

it soundly beats the STI for more than $10,000the cost of an STI. my point is (IMO), for what your paying, your just not getting enough car for that amount of money. ive driven (and owned) lots of vettes. my buddy has a new z06. yeah its fun to drive, but no where near as fun as my STI

Before you start crying about my comments, try reading them, idiot. I never called any STI owner a ricer. I only called akinadownhillrice a ricer because he is one. He street races his Toyota Corolla that he actually went to the trouble of taking the badges off and replacing them with the badges from the Japanese domestic model that his car isn't. It doesn't get anymore RICE than that.

before you start calling someone a ricer learn what it is idiot. Just because we drive STis doesnt make us ricer... Import doesnt = rice... idiots the put pointless wings, oversized ugly bodykits, and rattly fart cans are ricers... get your shit right. I have a 2005 STi making 390WHP and its FAR from rice thanks

Why are we talking about 2004 anyway? Here are the stats for 2008. The price difference between these cars is only about $10,000. Hockenheim Short C6= 1:14.1 STI= 1:18.3 Top Gear Track C6= 1:26.8 STI= 1:28.2 Virginia International Raceway C6= 3:01.2 STI= 3:19.0

"you could buy an evo/sti and make it handle infinatly better with some mods that a 60k+ vette." Modded vs stock is a completely unfair and silly comparison. You can buy a fox body Mustang for $1500 and make it runs circles around a stock STI for FAR less money. Doesn't make it a better car or mean you should buy the Mustang, does it?

Yes, a 2004 STI runs side by side with a base model C5 Corvette for less money. True. Because the base model C5 was not intended for all out performance. It has a lot of luxury anti-perforance crap that the STI didn't have. GM built a car intended for performance, like the STI, called the Z06 and it didn't cost more than the base model. Mine stickered for $48,500 and it soundly beats the STI in performance.

"60k for a vette is outragous. considering that in 04 the first year for the STI, they were side by side with vettes in stats for significantly less." You are dealing with two different things here. The only vettes the STI were side by side with were base model C5s and they didn't cost $60k. The only vette that costs that much is the C6Z06 that absolutely destroys the STI.

minus the fact that they go about it like idiots. most of them do have a point. 60k for a vette is outragous. considering that in 04 the first year for the STI, they were side by side with vettes in stats for significantly less. i think the point most are trying to make is that for the money, you could buy an evo/sti and make it handle infinatly better with some mods that a 60k+ vette. but whatever different strokes for different folks

That's great. Buy what you want, do what you enjoy. If I had 60k to blow on a car of my choice, I wouldn't buy either one. But if I had 60k to blow for a track car, then it would be a Corvette race car. If I wanted to race in the dirt, I'd buy the closest thing I could afford to a Trophy Truck. I'm not bashing anything but Corvette bashers here. Just using facts to prove haters wrong.

corvettes are nice cars man, but if i had 60k to blow, it wouldnt be a vette. it would be an STI purchaced for 35k then id put the left over into making an all around monster. ive driven many vettes and they are a blast, but STIs are so much more fun. rain, snow, tarmac, dirt, gravel. anything you can throw at them. they are so much more fun, even if they dont handle as well from the factory.

The composite monoleaf's advantages are small. A bit less weight and the weight a bit lower and more centered in the car. It has a couple downsides compared to fully adjustable coilovers like it's more work to corner balance the car, and lowering with stock springs is limited. But it has no real downsides on a stock vehicle or compared to stock style, non-adjustable coilover systems. Are you going to try to explain how the monoleaf hurts handling? Please do, I'm waiting.

WRONG. Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc do not always have every single technical advantage. They are tiny companies with limited resources. It's why cars like the ZR1 and GTR can and do beat Ferrari and Lamborghini. They have technical advantages over them. Matter of fact, Ferrari had to buy the rights from GM to use their selective magnetic shock technology for the 599. FACT.

If that suspension/chassis set up were better, cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini etc would ALL have a leaf spring. Those super cars all cost upwards of 250,000 to 500,000ish. Your argument just drop through your balsa wood floor board.

It's spelled coming, not comming. At least I have a job and go to school. How's life in your parents basement? Kentucky...the midwest is full of retards and the plastic pig is just another reason.

"I think GM engineers are out of their redneck minds." This comming from a 28 year old tech school student. LOL! GM engineers would just point and laugh at you, ricer. Besides, your idol Jeremy Clarkson said the Corvette ZR1 was a "Masterpeice." He also said, "well done fat men in Kentucky!" If you want to know what he thinks of you, watch the episode where he makes fun of ricers.

"why the list of sports cars with a leaf spring is so very short?" Sure. No other company spent the money doing the research to develope a viable fiberglass composite spring. The tiny reduced weight and lower CG that the transverse composite monoleaf provides isn't worth the cost of developement and increased manufacturing cost for the minimal gains.

You bet your daddy's plastic pig I'm proud to drive a hachiroku. Did you think I represent the AE86 because I wanna pick up girls like you fail at doing in your daddy's wheels? "According to you, my car has the worst handling ever, and I'm a terrible driver with no skill, right? Then how do you explain my videos, ricer?" Pretty much. Watching you let the RPM drop near idle speed tells me you are a pathetic amateur with no interest in technique.

"Zero effect eh?" Yup. With a fully independant SLA wishbone suspension, all the spring does is provide a force, measured in pounds per inch. The shape of the spring has no effect. All that matters is that force it exerts. Go ahead and try to explain how the shape of the spring changes the changes the vehicle dynamics. (Other than the weight and CG of the springs themselves, which are lighter and lower on the Corvette and why they use them) Please try to explain, it would be hilarious.

"(Corvette) handling is regarded as the worst ever." -ricer LOL! F A I L Only a retarded ricer filled with hate and denial could say such a ricey thing. Everybody realizes this is coming from a person who is proud to street race his Corolla, right? According to you, my car has the worst handling ever, and I'm a terrible driver with no skill, right? Then how do you explain my videos, ricer?

Okay to start with...LMAO!!! Zero effect eh? Would you be so kind as to explain why the list of sports cars with a leaf spring is so very short? Leaf springs belong on a ox cart. Not a 70,000 dollar sports car. I think GM engineers are out of their redneck minds. Then again, we are talking about a culture where the song "Jesus take the wheel" is a smash hit. I've got an idea. Why don't you let Jesus take the wheel? In front of a on coming train.

Sorry but no. Plastic pig handling is regarded as the worst ever. You can't change history because you love domestic GM trash.
