You cannot compare a BMW M with a Volvo R, anyone that does (including Volvo) are dopes. I love the S60R, it'll probably be my next car, although I reckon I'd rather an M5 if I could afford it. M3 on the other hand.... there's many, many other cars I get for that money before the M3.

The points you have made are a major reason why I sold my M3 for the M5 - the M5 will eat the M3 and S60R with out even trying and its bigger interior and boot make it more practical than both also. The S60R isnt a bad car - I was pointing out it was a foolish mistake on Volvos part to make the comment "M3 rival" Volvo later said it is NOT an M3 rival due to the bad reviews! Like Top Gears! It would have got great reviews if it wasnt being rivald to the M3! Performance was my point!

I wont take it from a guy who has owned an M3 - because I also have owned an E46 M3 and now drive an E60 M5! Iv also driven the S60R a couple of times - and im not talking a quick drive! Iv driven it hard! Im talking from a performance point of view only. If I wanted a comfortable car - id buy a 7 series! Not an M3! Talk about missing the point mate. The M3 was never ment to be a comfortable and practical car! Its a road going race car! And its not uncomfortable either-it is raw tho. Whch I love

BradV8 - I understand your BMW/German loyalty. I too am a fan. However, take it from a guy who owned an '02 M3 and now currently drives a '07 S60R; both cars have strengths and weaknesses. The BMW gives more feedback to the driver in corners but the Volvo is much more comfortable and is truely a more usefull car overall and is a lot of fun to drive. I loved my M3 but I'll take my R over the M3 in a second.

bmw m drivers are coks. whoever said turbos just blow up cars is a basically retarded. learn something about cars. when you put a large turbo on a 10:1 compression motor without a proper rebuild on the whole engine as well as a super good tune job you will throw a rod when you get into it at all. now take volvo for example... producing the most reliable turbo charged cars ever built using super good tuning as well as a low compression motor. volvo4LIFE

Just like every other car on the market. And again you can't dis on Volvo for using turbos. They are tried and true, Volvo has been using them forever. Whereas, BMW is just starting to get into using them. It won't be long before a Turbo shows up in a M model.

The turbo does not blow the engine! Volvo has had turbo cars forever and they are super reliable engines. BMW just recently adopted the turbo too because they have finally found out how great they really are!

i'd have to say it's a toss up. depends on what you want. if you want a reasonably fast tank that can go through snow drifts, go with the R... if you want a car that's extremely fast, more expensive, but shits all over other sports cars, buy the S4... am i right fellas?
