FF's are prolly the best for high horsepower. why? cause the engine helps give traction to the tires cause the front end actually has weight on it... making it easier to launch than FR's
As for FR's... The traction is in the rear and in most cases there isnt much weight back there. so it loses traction easily on launch like your high power supras and rx7's... watch some vids on some pulls on the highway... might see wat i mean

tires have a whole lot to do with it. the bad thing about srt-4s is that unless you wanna buy specialized rims and tires then the biggest you can go is 145's and you can only fit those with coilover upgrades. but yeah srt-4s have good handling and most turns you won't have to get out of the throttle much unless you are scared which was my problem when i was autoxing. lol
Its the tires. I swear it. I had buddy with a srt4 (not 772hp tho lol), loved it to death. Cheaped it and got shop tires rather than the stock skins (which were pricey) and the handling went right out the window.
Mind you, I dont know how many mods are available for srt4's suspension, but there will always be that limit where it understeers, and that aggravates me. No fun if your not counter-steering half sideways through a corner :P Preference tho

i agree with you other than the understeer part. srt-4's can take corners well with the right setup. you should watch some of the videos of srt-4s autocrossing.
SRT-4's can be bought relatively cheap... Go look for a deal, you can pick one up quick!
