a buddy of mine is going to put a vq35de 350z motor in his 240z.....its going to haul assssss!!!
He says the 1JZ is, not the 2JZ.
It's been over for years, friend. The MkIII Supra (1JZ model, 1991 IIRC) was over this limit, as was the MkIV Supra. Nissan had two cars that surpassed it as well, and I believe the last generation Mazda RX-7 was also beyond the 280bhp limit.
which is now over... japan is going to be releasing some amazing vehicles
you might find a 1 litre engine in a suzuki swift or geo metro
You can get them cheaper out of Soarers and Aristos. The main reason the cost is $5000 is the $3-4000 transmission. The five speed (R154) from the Soarer GT and MkIII Supra will bolt up to either with a 1JZ bellhousing. 1JZs are often known to put down 300ish rwhp bone stock. The 280bhp rating is part of a gentleman's agreement the major Japanese motor companies had
JZs use iron blocks
Ok tech time! The 1jz stands for the generation the engine is in, not the cc ratings, likewise the 2jz, the 1jzgte is a 2.5L engine which runs 280 hp and the 2jzgte is later more modified 3L version which pumps out 320hp, the two JZ engines are some of the most capable engines ever built to this day, and the cheapest to tune because of there internal strength and durability, because of there capability there cost are relatively high, falling in the range of $5000 or so with gearbox and loom
1jz-gte and 2 jz-gte what kind of engine is that? Which vehicle was it originally meant for?
1jz means 1.0 litre and 2jz means 2.0 litre? isnt that weak even with the datsun`s weight?
Doesnt it cost very much?
My interest is sparked..
i am selling two (2) 240z's, both complete 1 is a 72 (runs good, needs work) the other a 71 (hasnt ran in years) with rare oem bodykit..must sell! have 5 cars already! e-mail me!
true. im not sure if they are iron blocks but i think the jzs and the sr20s are pretty light.
Depends what V8 and i6 your comparing. A RB26 is an iron block and a LS1 is an alloy engine and though it is 2 more cylinders it is actually lighter due to the metal used.
Listen to the commentator, he says that the 2jz is "cheaper but just as effective"
Beautiful car the 240, but whats wrong with an RB26?
Is the 2jz a better engine?
Also I didn't notice this video is so old. Haha~
I completely agree with what you meant, the Datsun s30 only suits specific engines and those bigger 5.7L from Ford/GM etc, definitely should not be dropped into a car like this. If I saw one, I would literally cry. :( 240/60/80's are sacred machines.
More on topic with the video though, that's clearly a clean engine swap, I love it. Have you thought about about putting the battery in the back? A mate who dropped a 2jz in a 260, is doing just that I believe.
oh dont get me wrong, im not against v8s. i have one myself. but a regular 5.7 v8 in a car like this would not be as efficiant.
Have you ever heard of aluminium alloy blocks, wide body design, mounted behind the cross-member and against the firewall?
No offense, but weight balance distribution in the car is an important factor and some V8's are lighter than your cliché straight-6, such as the JDM-VH41/45 vs RB25, RB26 and the JZ engines.
im not sayin gm sucks, its just that if you do anything besides drag, a v8 just does not make since for handeling.
exactly! why would you need a 5.7L when you can make the same power with one of these as a lot of turbo ls1's. Its a far superior design GM are and always will be behind nuff said.
plus they can actually turn with a i6. v8s are too heavy.
wiring a 1j 2j or any nissan engine into a Z car is easy.
I swear that cars in the UK now
straights leave more room
what wheels and tires are on the z? |
